Part 3 Coming later this week.
Irma Boom’s advice for young designers
“Whatever you do, you will always be asked for what you have done” ”So always choose your commissions well’. – Irma Boom
That is a very important thing I never thought about doing when choosing what projects to do. But it makes perfect and practical sense to do so. Also listing to your inner self it will be hard to at first but over time it will be easier to do. Just remember there is no such thing as a failure if you learn from it.
Erik Spiekermann On Innovation Part 1
“The iPod was not a new invention. They used technology that was available. It had a hard drive inside, mp3 technology even the click wheel wasn’t apples invention. It was all there. What they innovated was they built a product that was actually usuable, They built a great product that was desirable”
Jessica Hische – Grab the reins and fucking do it.
I still remember the first time I watched this creative mornings talk. I honestly did not have any idea with what to expect. Jessica is highly inspirational I loved her mentality on web design. To anyone who has not experimented with learning web design it’s really not as hard as it seems. Just check out a site Jessica and Her Bf or Fiance I forget which one to be exact they created a great beginner site. to help people understand web design Don’t Fear the Internet
On Creativity – Milton Glaser
The act itself is the path to discovery- Milton Glaser
Objectified Documentary
The first time I watched this documentary I had no idea what to expect in relation to product design. After watching it I definitely have a greater respect for well designed products. I really love the Dieter Rams part in the documentary.
Artist Series: Paula Scher
“I drew the city bank logo after the first meeting on a napkin”
When I learned that Paula Scher did the Citibank logo so fast I was blown away. But she also said after 34 years she’s able to do that. She’s always an inspiration to watch and to hear talk. The pentagram office is beautiful btw.
Dutch Profiles: Joost Grootens
Having just come across this video while browsing youtube I am very very impressed with his book designs. I really see why his world atlas book got a gold medal. I do not think that anything while ever replace the feeling of what it is like to hold a book and read it compared to looking onto a computer screen, a cellphone or an ipad.
Technology Loop – Portlandia on IFC
All I can say is I wonder how many of ours lives are like this day to day with all of the gadgets and technology we have nowadays.
