Benefits of taking criticism constructively

In whatever profession you have chosen for your life you will have people who want to tell you how to do certain things. Then you will also have people critiquing your performance. If you are a designer like me you will have set through a critique about your work and have gotten some great feedback and other times not so much.

There are some designers who take critique’s personally if someone does not love everything they have done. A couple of the many valuable things I learned while presenting is to always be prepared for the response if a client or professor does not like your work. While they are saying what they do not like telling them what you did and why you did it will not really do much in changing their point of view.

I’m not saying that is not possible for them to change after you explain why you did such and such, just say thank you for the help. The more you defend yourself it is as if it will only make you appear weaker then you actually are. Also it could be that they just did not understand what you came up with.

If you get off of your high horse thinking you are better then you actually are and take criticism constructively, and use it to improve your work it will benefit you tremendously. Because those who have less of an ego will last longer then someone who does.

M.C. Escher Documentary

I had heard about M.C. Escher in class a couple of times but never really knew too much about him. This documentary shows how dedicated and infatuated an artist can get with their work and exclude everyone else. One of the many parts that amazed me is when he spent a whole year coming up with his own style of illustration or division something along those lines.

Google Glass 2.0: What If We Had Glass?

I’ll admit at first I didn’t really think of google glass as something that would be great for society and I’m slowly changing my views. The capabilities of what it can do are amazing. I for one would love to try out a pair for a week and see how they hold up and if they actually improve and help with my day to day life. Sadly I missed the opportunity to apply for them.

What do you think about google glass do you think it’ll do more harm then good or vice versa?

Luck Is A Made Up Word

Many people have this belief of a thing of you are were you are because you were lucky and whatever other stories/excuses they try to make up. To me I believe that luck does not exist you can be able to make your own path. Which you can call it luck if you want there is not wrong with that.

But working harder then your lazy friends will allow you to get to where you want to. Times can get so hard that you just feel like giving up on everything. You may feel that your in a crappy job and there’s no escaping it. But whether you believe it or not there is always a way to get out. The main thing is do you want to and do you believe you can.

Because lets face it people are lazier then ever they are impatient, play the lottery to win big money when if they put the money spend from lottery tickets they would be well on their way. Don’t get me wrong I did not always used to be this way of thinking about luck being a made up word and or excuse.

It is just that the harder I’m working on myself and my design skills I am seeing the benefits of it. You can do the same if you want to that is. Remember this
