Art & Copy Documentary [2009]

After watching this documentary many times it was a little history lesson in advertising. This documentary also taught me about advertising and how its done. The rotating of billboards I never thought of it as being such a complex and quickly moving business.

“The frightening and most difficult thing about being a creative person is that you have no idea where your thoughts come from really and especially no idea where they will come from tomorrow”

Bauhaus School of Art and design Documentary – Graphic Design Architecture

I came across this documentary because of my interest in the Bauhaus. This documentary showed me how innovative people can be with little amounts of materials available. When the war happened in Germany and the students had to use what they had available showed me that you do not need ton’s of materials to make something great. The furniture from the Bauhaus gives me chills when I see how beautifully designed it is and then I lust to have it. I was blown away to learn how much of the architecture in Chicago is influenced by The Bauhaus (even though I know that is not the only city).

Only if there was a school like this to attend nowadays.

Elizabeth Gilbert: A new way to think about creativity

Elizabeth Gilbert is a very interesting woman. The way she talks about creativity is something that really opened my mind to think of creativity in a different way. I never really thought of creative people falling and diminishing at their own hands. Whenever I’m outside or not doing anything related to designing creativity inspiration comes out of nowhere.

“All children are born artists, the problem is to remain an artist as we grow up.” – Pablo Picasso

What are your thoughts about this speech?

Paula Scher: Great design is serious (not solemn)

I first learned about Paula Scher when I was in art school. One of my professors had mentioned her. After watching this Ted talk It really opened my eyes up about designing in a different way. Because before I thought of designing as being solemn and not serious. Also the aspect of playing while designing because that is honestly what designing can be depending on how you look at it.
