Creating a Corporate Identity: Virgin`s Branding Strategy

 

The branding for the Virgin group is one that I always enjoy seeing. I feel that since Richard Branson is the brand of Virgin and in that way he symbolizes fun and down to earth and a cool person to sit and have chat with.  Perfect symbol of how to create a great brand just as how Apple has Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak as the people who symbolize what apple represents.

Supermarket Psychology – Entrances, layout and shelving

This is a pretty interesting video about supermarkets and how they are layed out. While I’ve worked at a couple of retail stores I learned quickly that if you grab a shopping cart you will end up getting more then what you can in for. This can also relate to how Clothing stores are laid out. Another thing I do not recall where I heard if from is that retail shops have mannequins to for people to visualize  themselves in the mannequins place.

Microsoft Surface Commercial

This Commercial to me just sucks overall. I do not understand what is the point of having people dancing around with a thin tablet that you can connect and disconnect a thin keyboard to? To me this clearly redefines the quote that Steve Jobs had said about microsoft  “I don’t think anything will change at Microsoft as long as Ballmer is running it.” 

This  Clearly explains a lot about Ballmer to me at least.

Malcolm Gladwell – Why do some succeed where others fail? What makes high-achievers different?

 

Ever since I listened to Malcom Gladwells audiobook The outliers I look at those who are successful in a different way. There is also some reference to those who have become skilled in whatever profession it is that they choose to endeavor. Putting in the amount of time required to become great at what you do is an every day task.

To become great at what you do that means you have to do it every single day at put in the amount of effort required. The time needed is 10,000 hours to become an expert. Malcom Gladwell will be able to explain it in greater detail then I could in this interview.
