My Hand will always

When I first heard this quote from Margaret Kilgallen it was an eye opener. A great example is in our design work, calligraphy, lettering we focused so much on getting everything crisp and clean. Not to say having clean and crisp design/lettering,calligraphy work is bad. More so that you can try and try to get your lines straight but it will never be straight.

Therefore that is where the beauty is. If you look at something that is hand done it captures a different essence to it. The feeling of not being done by a machine lacks certain aesthetics. Lets take hmm a Renaissance  painting and compare it to a digital painting. The painting from the Renaissance will evoke more feeling of human like quality to the piece.

While the digital painting will have a mechanical feel to it. But this is could be up to debate for many people. I just want you to realize that the importance of having a human aspect to your work will allow you to invest yourself even more into it. Because if you look at someones lettering or calligraphy really close you can see the line waver.

Maybe from afar it looks amazingly beautiful. When close up you notice the flaws better. This involves training your eyes to be able to spot certain things. Another thing is with other aspects of lettering, calligraphy and graphic design.

Bully Yourself

By the title you may be thinking why on earth would I want to bully myself. The title is in reference to making yourself do what you know you should be doing. If there is a time when you feel as if you should get up then you should get up. If there is a time when you are putting things off stop doing that.

A simple example is if you should clean your room. You know that you need to clean it but you say to yourself “oh I’ll just do it later”. Then later comes and you don’t have time or maybe your just lazy and don’t care. If you take this same mentality throughout your life drastic effects can take effect.

Right now if you are eating fast food weekly and not exercising you will pay for it. Another example is a drug user whom starts off using lightly. Then over time they began to use more. In the process they are becoming worse and worse. This is what you can avoid with being a lazy procrastinating person.

I Never Allowed my Fear

When you are a fearful person over time it limits you. If you don’t see how it limits you then take a second to think of things that you want to do but are scared. Another thing could be afraid of being honest and show your failures. Appearing to perfect is just a way for you to think you are above others.

Fear is something that will kill your dreams. The way that fear will limit you and kill your dreams is by you seeing what things could happen and never doing anything. You’d never attempt to do something outside of yourself in regards to your fear of failure. There are certain athletic examples that can be used in reference for failing over and over again.

A basketball player shoots a basketball over and over until they make it. So the misses count as the repeated failure that does not not last. A skateboarder falls down over and over and gets back up until they land the trick. The repeated failing allows you do develop the mentality of I do not care what it takes I’m going to do it.

This sense of determination and fearless mentality is developed over time so do not think this is something that few possess. You as well can develop these skills. Each day do something that scares you (that is legal and does not hurt anyone or yourself). If your scared to ride a bike down a hill do it, If your scared to stand on a skateboard do it and many other things to get the fear out of you.

I started with sketching. After a multiple amounts of sketches I came to one that I felt was very strong and captured the essence of the intial objectives.

For the Flyer the continued use of the logo to maintain consistency throughout the branding. Also I chose to use text that is very easy to comprehend and easy to quickly read.

You have the Skills

Whether you believe it or not you do have the skills to pay the bills. Because overtime our belief can be tested and diminished from various sources. The sources can be family members, friends, and society in general. But with them doubting your and trying to tell you what you should do; follow your own path.

The skills that you have are valuable. Because you can learn how to improve them and learn new ones. Then finding an opportunity for yourself to use your skills are easy. Just think of the things that you complain about. Using your skills to find an opportunity in complaining is possible.

A majority of believing in your skills depends on if you believe and have the faith. Having belief in your skills makes the difference. Also having faith in them as well. Because you can continue improving them but if you don’t believe then you won’t have faith in them.

For example just think of an athlete who trains everyday. Over time the athlete starts to believe he is making progress. But when it comes to the day for competing he does not have the faith that his training will help him win. The same example can be used for many other examples.

If you currently do not have any skills it is not to late to start learning.
