Good design should never be used to

The designer is not always right. The researcher is not always wrong. Profit is not always the motive; market research, whatever its outcome, should never be used as a good excuse for bad design – in the same sense that good design should never be used to promote a bad product.

Interview with graphic designer, Paul Rand

This interview with paul rand is definitely a classic interview as you can probably tell by the quality of the video and what the interviewer is wearing. I would’ve been asking tons of questions related to design and whatever else I could think of. But anyhow this interview is a great insight on how Paul Rand goes about designing and etc.

Paul Rand On Originality

Paul Rand is hands down one of the many well known designers. He is responsible for next logo for Steve Job’s company next.

The main thing I want to speak on was when Mr Rand talked about originality. When someone starts out being a designer they say that they want to be original and etc. Then which will have them presenting their work saying it is original. I for one am guilty of doing that. But after watching this video many times I learned to stop doing that and let other people decide if it is original or not.
