After watching this video about presentations I could not help but notice how true this is. Every time I sit through a presentation if I notice any thing from this I get a little irritated suprisingly. The IT guy part is pretty funny because it seems that happens quite often (no offense if you work in IT). The ending message is perfect.
What are your thoughts about presentations do you think this is an accurate portrayal of one?
I Came across this video on a Blog. This Video Really made me fall even more in love with New York. I’ve been there twice so far. In a couple of years or living and succeeding in New York is going to be my next thing to do. Being a Graphic designer in New York will definitely be a different way to see the world. Make sure to watch with headphones to get the full effect.
I found out about Bill Bernbach from the design agency doyle dane bernbach. I loved when they interviewer asked him where he finds creative talent and Bill said anywhere. The way Bill talked about having an academic background in creative people not being important and that only thing it can teach you is knowledge and therefore knowledge already exists. Such an amazing interview I’m definitely going to dive deeper into the doyle dane bernbach Advertising agency history.
I remember before I bought an apple product I thought it was just a fad. But the more I’ve been learning about Steve Jobs and Apple I have more respect for him and apple. This video Steve sums up in a short amount of time about life.
“Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter then you”
Watching this pitch from saul bass really showed me the importance of branding in great detail. I was blown away how Saul did not really take anything away from the Logo. He just made it better.
Enjoy and let me know what your thoughts are about it
I found this video while searching around on youtube. The Song is pretty funny and awesome at the same time. Guess what I sat in an eames Lounge Chair. Sitting in an eames chair is like nothing else. The Leather was remarkable and so comfortable that I did not want to get up. I’m starting to see more and more of eames furniture around which is remarkable. But Charles and Ray eames are some amazing designers.
Heres a picture of the Eames Lounge Chair that I am definitely going to purchase for my home and that I sat in as well.
This is one very important video from Erik Spiekerman about typography. Erik Spiekerman is a German Designer and Typographer. In This video it will teach the meaning behind why certain typefaces are used for businesses, products and etc.
If you have not already picked up Erik’s book Stop Stealing sheep and find out how type works is a book to read. It will help improve your typography in a positive way.
Debbie Millman is such a wonderful woman. The speech she gives is very informative. She even gave out some great advice to recent graduates. Watching this really opened my eyes up to learning about other things besides design. Mainly the impact of being aware of whats really happening in the world can have on your work.
I really would love to attend The school of Visual Arts in New York. Sadly I failed my portfolio class by a letter grade at the art institute so I was not able to get my associates degree. Not going to let that hold me back. But anyhow enjoy the talk.
Dieter Rams is a industrial designer. He designed a bunch of products for Braun and Vistoe. When I found out about Dieter Rams from watching the objectified documentary I was in awe. His approach to design really made me think about the work that I do. His Ten principles are what I tend to base my work around when i’m in the process.
1.should be Innovative
2. makes a product useful
3. has to be aesthetic
4.makes a product understandable
5. is honest
6. unobtrusive
7. sustainable
8. is consequent
9. ecofriendly
10. last but least good design is to be less as possible
A lot of Apple products are inspired by Dieter Rams. For example the iMac (the desktop) apple computer is inspired by a Dieter Rams Product. The way I found out was from Watching Objectified Here’s link to the Part 1 of the Full documentary here
