Interview with graphic designer, Paul Rand

This interview with paul rand is definitely a classic interview as you can probably tell by the quality of the video and what the interviewer is wearing. I would’ve been asking tons of questions related to design and whatever else I could think of. But anyhow this interview is a great insight on how Paul Rand goes about designing and etc.

These Apple Ad’s Suck Compared to the Older ones

I’m not really liking the direction these ads are heading in at all. They also feel like something that Steve Jobs would not have approved of. But Tim Cook does seem to be doing a great job at apple.  Now back to the ads.

The storyline of these ads seems to miss the point in some ways. For example the mayday advertisement the guy talks about creating a video in iMovie when clearly the exporting time will depend on how long the video and its size and he closed the laptop when he was through? (I’m not sure how he would’ve finished exporting his video he made).

Mainly I feel the advertisements could be simplified more overall. I wonder if TBWA  Chiat day still does advertisements for Apple.

If you look at the ratings on youtube you can see i’m not the only one who feels this way about these apple ads.

Art & Copy Documentary [2009]

After watching this documentary many times it was a little history lesson in advertising. This documentary also taught me about advertising and how its done. The rotating of billboards I never thought of it as being such a complex and quickly moving business.

Bauhaus School of Art and design Documentary – Graphic Design Architecture

I came across this documentary because of my interest in the Bauhaus. This documentary showed me how innovative people can be with little amounts of materials available. When the war happened in Germany and the students had to use what they had available showed me that you do not need ton’s of materials to make something great. The furniture from the Bauhaus gives me chills when I see how beautifully designed it is and then I lust to have it. I was blown away to learn how much of the architecture in Chicago is influenced by The Bauhaus (even though I know that is not the only city).

Only if there was a school like this to attend nowadays.
