What does your work ethic you look like?

Work ethic is something that many believe they have. Well I was so shocked when I learned even more how hard people I admire work. I mean I knew that they worked hard but when I read about Tupac’s work ethic it took my breath away.

The reason is because he did so much in such a short time. When a lot of us just sit and waste the day away. Another thing we do is say oh I’ll do it tomorrow and its not a big deal. The bad thing about doing such things is that it can become a habit.

I know I have talked about work ethic before but it just bothers me when I see others wasting time away. Also when myself I fall victim to getting comfortable and just drifting by without a care in the world. Especially when things tend to get a little difficult or I feel I am not making the progress I can. But I know if it was easy everyone would do it. Then I stop and reflect on how far I have came

The same thing you should do is to stop and reflect on your current situation compared to last year. I know the saying you shouldn’t focus on the past. Well the past is something that you can learn from. So I for one do this constantly and appreciate where I am now.

Remember your work Ethic from a year ago. If you are still using the same work ethic that you had previously it is time for you to step it up and stop being lazy. Stop being comfortable with where you are. Being comfortable with where you are is not a bad thing if you do not want to achieve and or have more. But you know that is ok not everyone wants to have more out of life and they are happy with where they are. Just make sure you are being honest with yourself and life.

The king and the pawn go into the same box

This quote is one that I came across recently. The overall significance made me understand things a lot better. Because no matter what position that you are in the pawn and king go into the same box. If someone is in a higher position than you just remember the are really no different than you.

Well the overall stipulation is to not think of anyone being higher up than you. You want to keep the mentality of that you can compete and be just as good as them. I personally used to think that I would not be able to have the same mentality as someone who is successful.

The best way is to learn how successful people go about doing things. A great example is to watch documentaries on the people who inspire you. One very good recent series is the dailyvee from Gary Vaynerchuk.  Just seeing the overall grind and how hard he works inspires me. Also it lets me know that I am not executing like I should be.

So what If I am working a graveyard shift there’s no reason for me to not be executing. So being honest with yourself is a great thing to know what you are not doing and then get up off your ass and do it. Remember the people who are doing what you want to do they are executing.

Follow your dreams and cover your footsteps

Following your dreams and cover footsteps meaning follow your dreams but you do not  need to brag about anything. If you are the type that likes to tel everything you should stop doing that. You have to take time to focus.

By focusing on the grind and getting to where you want to be everything will work out. The reason why I say this is you do not want people to lose respect for you bragging and whatever else you do. Just think if I wrote blog posts which would come across as me crying about how hard things are or what I am doing to work as a designer full time you may lose respect for me.

One main thing that I learned last year and will continue to stick with me is to make more moves and make less announcements. If you do this people will think you’re an overnight success when you’ve just been working silently without bragging.

Pushing the Limits: Hyperloop transportation system

I find this absolutely amazing that people are still moving forward with this.  Also how Elon musk made the blueprints available for someone to make the hyperloop possible. I for one know that when this becomes available I would like to take a ride on the hyperloop.

Just think of the possibilities this will allow us to have as humans. The things that were unavailable will become even more available. Honestly what a time to be alive.

Think Different

Thinking different is what a lot of people like to in-vision themselves doing. But the act of actually doing it can be difficult. But you want to not be scared of doing things differently. If you are doing things in relation to what you actually want do.

The aspect of doing things in accord with what is true to your own nature is golden. Whenever you are listing to yourself life will be more enjoyable. When I was younger I listened to what those who were around me were telling me to do. But you know what I did I decided to take time to listen to myself.

The experiences we have in life and also the people we meet in life can either teach us or harm us. So take the time to remember thinking different is ok. There is nothing wrong with actually thinking outside of the box instead of being limited by it.

Young Black and gifted


This is one thing that I am so happy that I possess. But you know the thing behind the title of this post is my belief about myself. Because I have been told that I am gifted. Honestly I would not be in the position I am in if I did not work hard.
Because a lot of people like to think there current life circumstance determines how they will turn out. But you know you are able to alter those circumstances. If you come from a bad neighborhood then you do the opposite of the negativity that exists and gets done in your environment.
You are better than that no matter what ethnicity you are. So stop using whatever you can as an excuse. Life comes to those who get out and hustle. Not to those who cry, complain and wish for success.

How calligraphy has helped me appreciate life better

Calligraphy is one thing that I am so thankful I have been learning for over 2 years. The effect that it can have ones life is astonishing. For example when you get into calligraphy and learn that you can improve. Also that if you know what you are doing you will get better fast.

Now lets get into the title of the post. Calligraphy has taught me that one: Fail, fail, fail and fail some more. Through the attempts that you have made you will succeed. Also that you have to slow the hell down and appreciate the fine details.
Because with calligraphy there are many fine details. The fine details of the letters, the details of the flourishes are breathtaking.

Second thing calligraphy has taught me is to believe in my work even more. Because when you start learning calligraphy it can be hard to keep at it. The reason is how many people get frustrated and or get bored. If you stick with something and don’t give up you will see little bits of progress.

Seeing the progress is what excites me. When I see how each of my finished calligraphy pieces are better each time gets me motivated more and more. Knowing that I came from producing work that I feel was garbage is great.  I say that its great because I know I did not stop at the top and I worked my way up from the bottom.

The third thing is that I want to get better. Knowing that I am able to improve is wonderful. We as humans love to see growth and us to get better. The only way to get better is to fail often. Because if you are not failing in whatever you are doing you will not get better.

The fourth thing is that you should not get comfortable using the same tools over and over. With calligraphy tools there are many that have been used and some that are more comfortable than others. But I for one know that If I have been using a certain tool too often its time to stop using it.

Calligraphy has helped me as a designer tremendously. There is benefit of using your hands to create compared to not using them at all.
