Learning brush pen lettering is tricky and also learning how different pens can produce different results. But I must say overall it can be pretty addicting and fun at the same time.

In this mini series I discuss about how to use brush pens for beginners. I know for one when I started using brush pens it would’ve been nice to have a straight forward tutorial on using them and etc.
How I became a more confident Graphic designer and you can too
Being a graphic designer or a creative person in general can be difficult to continue with. By that I mean it can be hard for one to stick with being creative and not let society beat it out of them. Because as creative people we have skills and talents in us that we can use. But we let the day to day grind deter us from embracing them.
When you have a skill that is not being used and or a talent its just being wasted. “The worst thing in the world is wasted talent” – A bronx tale. I for one fully believe that having wasted talent is the worst thing. Because if you just stick with it and are able to get through the year of hardships and doubt you will make it.
Now on to how I was was able to become a more confident graphic designer. The way I was able to become a more confident graphic designer was by believe in the work that I was doing. By believing in the work it made it more fun. Also realizing that I had done the best that I could. But not thinking “oh if I do this and that’ll be my best”. Which in actuality that is not the case. Just because you work hard on certain projects doesn’t mean you gave it your best.
Because if you work at an agency or wherever you know how hard you need to work on projects. But you have to ask yourself “did I actually go even further to make sure not all of my work is looking the same?”.
Then the other way that I was able to become more confident was the steady stream of wanting to improve and learning everything I could. Another thing was realizing what I sucked at. There are ton’s of resources available to learn from. Also to help you actually get better. Just because you went to design school art school or whatever you call it, that does not mean you are the top of the line.
Becoming more confident takes time and its not instant. If you are a non confident person then you have to get out of your comfort zone. You do not have to do things that are creative to become a more confident designer. Main thing is to get out of your comfort zone and continuously push yourself day to day.

This podcast is a from the previous group that makes the previous video I posted. Within this podcast what I really like about is how the style of it is. When I listen its as if I am just listening to them have a natural conversation.
What I really enjoy about this podcast is how Scotty is such a cool down to earth guy. The podcasts are not 60 plus minutes like some podcasts. In his short podcasts they are always good and straight to the point and you gain something from them. I definitely recommend checking them out.
I absolutely love this podcast and the friendly voice of the host. Also the amount of confidence a creative person can gain from listening to this podcast is unbelievable. I will admit when I first started listening to this podcast I was not as confident in my work as I am now. Andy definitely is a gem with this podcast. I definitely recommend check it out.
This is another fun podcast. In this podcast you will hear roxy and phoebe interview amazing letter artists from instagram on their podcast. While doing the podcast they are drinking and its pretty fun. To me I get the vibe of you going out to have drinks with a friend.

How to deal with a logo rejection professionally
Whenever you are working on a logo design for a client you have to be prepared for them to either accept it or reject it. But the main thing is to do your best and go above and beyond. Even though you may want to just do it last minute and half ass the work don’t.
You have to think that this work I am doing is going to be saw by many different types of people. You also want to think of many different factors of the overall use of the logo. If you are creating logos for a client and not thinking of the various ways it will be used then you should start.
Because this is the first thing you should be thinking about before you even have the first call/conversation with the client. Remember that you can create the most detailed logo in the world and it will get rejected. Also it may be beautiful to you but it just does not meet the clients requirements.
Knowing that we put so much time and energy into our work and then to have it rejected can make us upset. So what if it makes you upset you should realize that being professional is what is most important. Also its part of the client service business industry.
The steps to handling a logo rejection properly starts with
- Do no get offended by that the client says when they reject your logo.
- Take time and reflect to learn what you could do better next time
- go back over your sketches and see where you could’ve improved
- Ask yourself did you show a visual representation of the logo in use? (this is something I am going to start doing. I did not to do it and realized that was such a stupid thing to do.
- Ask the client what could we do to make this work? ( Only do this if the situation permits)
- Move and continue working and improving your designs
Rejections should not determine how our work is going to turn out with future clients. So do not let the emotions of rejection make you out of character and be unprofessional.

Why your ego is the ugliest part of you
When you meet someone that has such a huge ego it is a way to learn about them. What I mean by learning about the person is what they think of themselves. I for one learned that there is no need to have such a huge ego. Because I know that everyone is capable of having the same opportunities as me.
The opportunities are endless even when there seems to not be any available. But let me stay on topic about people having huge ego’s. In every profession you are guaranteed to come across a coworker, friend or etc with a huge ego. The immediate vibe I get from the person who has a huge ego is they feel as if they are above me.
Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with being confident in your journey to where ever it may be. You should not be thinking of people being beneath you. Think differently such as those who are not up here with me succeeding they just need to work harder or want to succeed as bad as I wanted to.
Because to be successful you most likely will not get anyone to take time to lend a hand to someone who has a huge ego. Then over time you will either be honest with yourself and realize that your ego is the ugliest part of you. So do yourself a favor and not have such a huge ego. If you do have a huge ego learn why you have such a huge ego and also think am I treating those around me with love?
Remember ego’s do not help one to succeed nor do they pay bills.
